Host and display your 3D models online for free with Boston College's new OMI platform
The recent uncertainty surrounding Sketchfab's commitment to hosting open-access models has posed significant challenges for universities,
libraries, galleries, and museums reliant on such services. This solution is designed for flexibility: smaller
collections can be hosted on GitHub Pages, while larger collections can be self-hosted. Users simply upload a folder of models alongside a spreadsheet
containing relevant metadata. This approach not only empowers institutions to preserve and share their collections but also enables student research
projects to host 3D models without straining university resources.
OMI is built and distributed by Boston College Libraries
