Getting around

For time estimates, and for when a shuttle is quicker than walking or wheeling.

Stairs and slopes are the same as the route options in Edit trip. Every route also has an Avoid steep slopes button.

Directions

Your screen reader reads each step and update, so Access BC won't also speak them.

Access BC

You're offline. The map, directions, Where am I? and your places still work. Shuttle times may be out of date, and reports and sharing need a connection.

Search for a building, or something like a restroom or an elevator. Directions start from where you are, on step-free paths.

      For which BC shuttles are running. Walking directions are the same at any time.

      Route options

      Turning this off also allows footpaths that haven't been checked for accessibility.

      Off campus. Many curb ramps aren't recorded yet, so routes may be longer; if there's no way round, the route says so.

      Only those running at the time. Avoiding stairs, trains are used only between wheelchair-accessible stations. Whether BC shuttles have a wheelchair lift or ramp isn't confirmed yet.

      Slopes are estimated from elevation data and can miss short ramps and curbs.

        Each copies your report and opens the form in a new tab, for you to paste it in. BC Facilities may ask you to sign in.

        Live directions are still being developed

        Access BC's live, step-by-step directions are being tested. They aren't yet reliable enough to depend on as an assistive device.

        • Your location can be off by 15 to 30 feet or more, especially near buildings and indoors.
        • The map may be out of date: construction, closures, snow, and broken elevators or doors may not be shown.
        • Keep using your usual mobility skills, cane, or guide dog. Watch for hazards, and ask for help if you need it.
